Mint - Peppermint

Mentha x piperita, commonly known as peppermint, is a herbaceous perennial spreading by rhizomes. It grows to 80cm-1m tall and flowers with a cluster of pale purple flowers. Peppermint thrives in many soils, but particularly moist well-drained, fertile soils with full sun or part shade and prefers cool to temperate climates. It spreads easily, so could be contained in a pot (and kept well watered) if wanted, to avoid spreading too much. 

Peppermint is valued medicinally for its respiratory and digestive actions and is also widely used as a tea herb.
